Versar, Inc., a global project management company based out of Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, with 23 locations around the world, is currently accepting resumes for a Project Archaeologist in support of anticipated projects on the Fort Bliss Military Installation, far west Texas and southern New Mexico. This is a salaried position out of our El Paso, Texas office with full benefits.

Versar offers tailored and secure solutions in harsh environments providing clients with comprehensive engineering and construction management, environmental and professional services.
Position Summary:
The Project Archaeologist will be expected to conduct primary research, supervise fieldwork, initiate and complete analyses, contribute significantly to report production, and provide general administrative support as assigned to large block surveys, NRHP evaluation projects, or data recovery efforts.
Requirements:
Qualifications include an M.A. degree in Anthropology, or closely related field, and minimum of 3 years of field supervisory /write-up experience. The preferred candidate will have an understanding of federal and state laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing cultural resources. Eligibility to hold permits in New Mexico, as well as experience working on US military installations, is highly desirable. Experience with managing and reporting large-scale survey, NRHP evaluation, and data recovery projects in the Southwest is required. GPS proficiency and adaptability to technological tools is mandatory.
Additional qualifications specific to this position:
· Collecting field data using Trimble GPS units, data dictionaries, and recording site attributes using pull down menus,
· Possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation,
· Pass a security clearance background check,
· Candidate must be physically capable of conducting survey in all weather and all environments, from very cold to very hot,
· Experience performing archaeological survey and excavation within the southwestern United States.
· Successful candidate will be required to reside in El Paso or in the adjacent communities; per diem is not offered for this position.
