HNTB is currently seeking archaeological field technicians with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology/Archaeology for several upcoming projects in the Southeast. Duties will include performing field assignments under direction of the Senior Archaeologists. Field technicians will assist in performing a range of archaeological fieldwork including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Performs field assignments under direction of the Senior Archaeologists
  • Assists in performing a range of archaeological fieldwork including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field with completion of an accredited field school
  • One year of archaeological field experience in the southeast United States
  • Experience with a range of Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and adverse field conditions
  • Able to navigate using a compass and topographic maps or handheld GPS units
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Candidates based in Georgia or surrounding states are preferred

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under direction of more senior Scientist, follows clearly established data collection methods to assist in conducting research projects and surveys.
  • Supports research efforts by gathering basic information from government agencies and clients, reviewing maps, assisting in field investigations among other supporting activities.
  • Based on prescribed methodology, sets up test equipment at proposed construction site to obtain scientific data.
  • Using established prescribed templates, prepares written reports, maps and statements of geologic, hydrologic, biologic and/or other scientific findings at project site as it relates to the design and construction of projects.
  • Maintains administrative records, collections and files related to specific projects.
  • Keeps current with trends, literature and new developments in ecology and environmental science.
  • Assists team in the production of project deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology or related field
