ELOS Environmental, LLC (ELOS) is seeking temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to perform all aspects of fieldwork (pedestrian surveys, shovel test surveys, test unit excavations, monitoring, trenching, etc.) in support of projects throughout Louisiana. The positions will be based out of the Hammond, Louisiana ELOS office. Archaeological Field Technicians should be self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions. The ability to work under a supervisor and as part of a team is necessary. Travel within Louisiana is necessary – could be away from home for days at a time. Must be able to read and understand topographic and aerial maps and use Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. Must have the ability to Identify and record historic and prehistoric cultural resources sites, artifacts, and features; lab experience is preffered. Previous participation in an archaeological field school and a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field is highly preferred; however, field experience may substitute. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Archaeological Field Technicians would also provide daily updates on project progress to the Principal Investigator/Project Manager, assist with background research, and collate field data for use in reports. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work are required.
