Assistant State Archaeologist - Asheville, NC

The North Carolina Office of State Archaeology (OSA) is hiring an Archaeologist II to be based in the Department of Natural and Cultural Resource's Western Office in Asheville.

Primary job responsibilities include performing environmental review in a 23-county area in the western Mountain region of North Carolina; consulting and coordinating with tribal representatives, particularly the Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI); conducting field archaeology; developing and participating in public education and outreach activities; producing publications; and managing archaeological collections.  Employee must have exceptional organizational, communication, and diplomacy skills.
