Archaeological Field Technician (Full-time/Temporary) - Bend, Oregon

North Wind Resource Consulting, LLC, (North Wind) an enterprise of the Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC), is seeking a qualified Archaeological Field Technician to assist with a cultural resources inventory projects primarily in Oregon. Successful applicants must be in good physical condition, capable of carrying loads up to 50 lbs., and have experience performing pedestrian surveys and shovel probe excavation and screening under a variety of field conditions. Camping experience is helpful and may be required if project is in remote locations. Must have skills and previous experience documenting prehistoric and historical period archaeological sites of varying complexity. The applicant should have the ability to work independently and efficiently as part of the site documentation team and compile detailed field notes. Applicants should have either a M.A./B.A. degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.


  • Ensures that data collected is accurate, organized and of high quality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features
  • Takes photographs of field work and maintains a daily log of activities.
  • Documenting archaeological sites in compliance with a particular agencies’ guidelines and requirements.
  • Works well with project team members and maintain a high level of communication regarding status of work product.
  • Operate a Garmin or Trimble GPS unit as needed
