Position
A Cultural Resources Specialist position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position will be located at Fort Campbell, KY. This announcement is for a full-time permanent position.
Organization
CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations.

Position Summary
A Cultural Resources Specialist position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position will be located at Fort Campbell, KY. The position will be responsible for implementing cultural resource management and archaeological documentation for the military installation. Specific duties will include coordination of archaeological surveys, site documentation, coordination with state agencies and carrying out cultural resource compliance documentation.
Proposed Annual Salary Range
$63,000 - $70,000
Required Job Qualifications
A MS/MA in anthropology,
archaeology, historic preservation or closely related field and completion
of an archaeological field school.
The applicant must have at
least one year of professional experience in archaeology, involving
archaeological survey and excavation methodology, resource significance
assessment, technical report preparation, project impact assessment, and
cultural resource management.
Demonstrated knowledge of state
and federal laws and regulations pertaining to cultural resource
management, including NHPA and 36 CFR 800 is a must.
Must have a valid driver’s
license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment
start date.
Preferred Job Qualifications
At least two years of
professional experience in archaeology, involving archaeological survey
and excavation methodology, resource significance assessment, technical
report preparation, project impact assessment, and cultural resource
management.
Demonstrated knowledge of
historic preservation law and policy.
Experience working with CRM
issues on military installations.
Experience with archaeological
field methods and techniques associated with cultural resource management.
Demonstrated knowledge of
Southeastern US history and prehistory.
Experience with office software
packages, including database management, spatial analysis (GIS) and
presentation graphics.
Experience evaluating
pre-historic and historic properties for National Register eligibility.
