Crew Chief, San Juan Basin, New Mexico

SRM

Southwest Archaeological Consultants, Inc., a small firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has an opening for an entry-level supervisory archaeologist to assist in the excavation of three sites in the southern San Juan Basin. The sites include a Pueblo I component, a Middle Archaic component, and a multicomponent rockshelter. General responsibilities will include managing a field crew, reviewing and maintaining field documentation, and preparing preliminary reports concerning the excavations. The field project will begin in the first quarter of 2020 and continue until completed, a minimum of 4 months but quite possibly as many as 6 months.

Relative to an individual’s education, previous experience, and skill set, salary is competitive and negotiable. An advanced degree is required. Previous experience in the northern Southwest and a background in geology (Quaternary studies) are preferred but not essential. Depending on one’s enthusiasm, professionalism and job performance over the course of the field project, advancement to a project staff position is possible. Please note that you must be available to begin by February 2020 to be considered for the position. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and resume to ESAP Staff at srmsouthwest@msn.com. Applications will be accepted until 12/21/2019.
