Excavation Project, San Juan Basin

Southwest Archaeological Consultants, Inc., a cultural resource management firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is actively seeking to fill Field Archaeologist positions for a 5 month excavation project in northwestern New Mexico. The project entails the excavation of a multicomponent rockshelter, a Pueblo I/II component, and a Middle Archaic component. The project area is in the southern San Juan Basin, about 45 km south of Chaco Canyon. The project is ongoing, and new crew members can begin on either February 19 or March 4. Note that applicants must be able to begin by March 4 to be considered for a position.

At a minimum, qualified individuals must have a undergraduate degree in Anthropology and must have completed an archaeological field school. Based on an individual’s experience and qualifications, the hourly pay rate varies from $16.00 to $18.00. Per diem is $45; accommodations (single occupancy) provided in Grants, New Mexico.
