Part-time to Full-time Project Archaeologist/Field Director


Archaeology & Historic Resource Services, LLC (AHRS) is currently seeking a part time to possibly full-time Project Archaeologist/Field Director with or soon to graduate with a Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field. The Project Archaeologist/Field Director will be part of a growing team of AHRS cultural resource professionals. The plan is for the successful candidate to develop into a full time Field Director/Principal Investigator.  We are seeking someone looking for a long-term opportunity not just a job. The Project Archaeologist/Field Director may be responsible for completing research, fieldwork, laboratory work and report writing on various types of projects.

Primary Tasks include but are not limited to:

·         Conduct research and site visits

·         Perform fieldwork and artifact analysis on Phase I, II, III and monitoring projects

·         Prepares technical reports

·         Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

·         Master's Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a closely related field

·         At least 4 years of field experience

·         At least 1 year of supervisory field experience

·         Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion

·         Familiarity with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and NY/NJ/Penn cultural resource compliance laws

·         Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

·         Able to maintain effective working relationships with AHRS staff, client, and regulatory agency staff

·         Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

·         Ability to conduct fieldwork, with frequent overnight stays, and in inclement weather

·         Previous experience working with ArcGIS and various GPS units preferred

·         Previous experience completing archaeological projects for various state DOT agencies preferred

·         Field experience in the northeastern United States is preferred

·         Have a valid Driver’s License in good standing
