Field Supervisor, SE New Mexico

Beaver Creek Archaeology (BCA) is an established cultural resource management firm looking to hire staff for openings out of our Artesia, NM field office. The applicant will need to have demonstrable previous field experience in New Mexico. All interested applicants must meet the minimum requirements detailed below. The employment status and location is flexible. The applicant's cover letter should indicate their desired wage or wage range and any preferences as to employment status (e.g., only looking for part-time or seasonal work).

All interested applicants must meet the minimum requirements and physical requirements detailed below and should come prepared with or have the ability to possess the attributes of a successful candidate and be able to meet and implement to job-specific responsibilities discussed below:

Minimum Qualifications:

             Bachelors Degree in Archaeology/Anthropology or a closely related field

             Previous field experience in New Mexico (meets or exceeds both the State and Federal permitting standards for a Field Supervisor/Crew Chief (FS/CC))

             Valid driver’s license

Field Director Responsibilities:

             Perform and supervise Phase I, II, and III archaeological fieldwork and report on results

             Direct and lead crew member(s)

             Take initiative and responsibility for the projects being overseen

             Apply problem-solving skills in order to optimize project completion

             Use their professional judgment and past experience to all projects and various working scenarios

             Direct data management and reporting for simultaneous projects under strict deadlines

             Work closely with all staff regarding project work, scheduling, and data exchange

             Maintain clear and detailed field notes and field forms

             Maintain company practices and standards for work and communication

             Attentive to details with an ability to manage multiple tasks and/or multi-task

             Undertakes responsibility for the project (including but not limited to: asking the necessary questions, booking hotel rooms, overseeing and managing crew members, communicating with office on project status and any concerns, etc…)

             Successfully complete small and large-scale reports (such as: NIAF, LA, HCPI, and applicable field forms)

Preferred Qualifications:

             3 years of relevant work experience to include 1 cumulative year in supervisory roles

             Experience with Trimble GPS, ArcPad, or similar hardware and software

             Faunal and/or Lithic analysis experience

             Lab and/or artifact curation experience

             Ability to be permitted in: the BLM’s SW Texas region
