Field Technician for Project July-Aug 2020 - Idaho

City of Rocks National Reserve, managed by Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, is looking to fill a archaeology technician position (Seasonal Ranger - Cultural Resources) for July and August 2020. The project primarily consists of intensive pedestrian survey of portions of City of Rocks.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Seasonal Ranger – Cultural Resources
Supervisor: Chief of Integrated Resources & Assistant Park Manager
Base Wage: $12.00 per hour
Start: July 1, 2020
End: August 31, 2020
Schedule:40-hour weeks, generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., typically weekdays, but may
include some weekends and holidays

Purpose:
To assist the Chief of Integrated Resources with archaeological survey of 363 acres of newly
acquired land. Assist in surveying trails and fences for project review.
 
Duties:
Collect GPS/GIS data (ArcCollector) of newly and previously recorded sites, collect
photographs, analyze and collect data on artifacts found.

Minimum Qualifications:
Legal U.S. resident, with valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain,
sometimes alone, especially in the backcountry, and follow safety protocols.

Desired Skills and Certifications:
Degree (or pursuing degree) in Anthropology or related field
Completion of an accredited archaeological field school
Good interpersonal skills with colleagues and visitors
Works well under direct supervision and independently when needed to achieve set goals
Experience with GPS and ArcGIS platforms
Comfortable using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Access
