Project Archaeologists - Western, Pacific Northwest, Plains


Espinoza Consulting Services (ECS) has immediate openings for project archaeologists to support projects in the West, Southwest, Pacific Northwest, and Plains states. The positions are permanent/salaried and includes competitive wages and company benefits (after a three-month probationary period). 

All candidates MUST have at least 5 years management experience. The most immediate needs are in Colorado, California, and the Pacific Northwest. Ability to be permitted in multiple land jurisdictions (including BLM) is a plus. Travel is also an absolute requirement of employment. All positions will include housing and/or per diem at approved CONUS rates.


This position serves the project lead under the general direction of a staff project manager or principal investigator.  The individual will be responsible for day to day project management and assure quality as specified in ECS Project Management and Quality Assurance Plans. 

Position requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related.
  • Five years of experience directing crews, managing projects and project budgets, and writing reports. This must include work in Colorado and New Mexico. Experience in other regions will only be considered if the local experience requirement is met. 
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • A working knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal cultural resource regulations. NEPA experience is also desirable.
  • Good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform all tasks specified below for crew chiefs and archaeological technicians.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures). Most work will involve high altitude, back country, locations over 7,000 feet.
  • Experience with ArcGIS 10.5 (or higher) is desirable.
  • Must have a clean driver’s license.
