Our Salt Lake City office offers a unique work environment and specializes in a full suite of cultural and natural resources consulting services.

Your role will be to coordinate fieldwork logistics for our Cultural Resources Program, which has a staff of approximately 40 people. You should be able to work a highly flexible schedule of approximately 30 hours per week.



Responsibilities

The Cultural Resources (CR) Field Coordinator will provide support and organization for the administrative and logistics tasks associated with SWCA's cultural resource fieldwork. The successful individual in this role will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and capable of functioning both independently and as a cornerstone of the office-wide Field Coordination Team while maintaining communication and collaborating with senior staff and field employees.

The CR Field Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the logistics on a variety of cultural resource projects, and may assist with Natural Resources field coordination as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, coordination of lodging, vehicles, staffing, and equipment in collaboration with the Field Coordination Team and Project Managers (PMs). We anticipate that the person filling this role will be generally unavailable for fieldwork. This will be a part-time, hourly, temporary position.

Project Tasks

  • Execute complicated logistics scheduling tasks as part of the Field Coordination Team
    • Make external reservations and pick up/return vehicles, equipment, and necessary items as needed
    • Gather and coordinate internal corporate equipment including technology, PPE, tools, and gear as required by the project
    • Follow the CR field schedule and coordinate logistics with PMs
    • Reserve and gather field equipment, lodging reservations, flight reservations and vehicles for delivery to field staff
    • Track and distribute necessary field equipment and materials
    • Communicate with the Field Coordination Team via Microsoft Teams Reservation Calendar and tracking system and Outlook
    • Complete Safety paperwork and provide travel route details in compliance with corporate safety policy
    • Coordinate or assist with Prefield Meetings as requested by PMs
  • Assist with project tracking and post-field tasks in coordination with field crews and PMs
  • Assist with general office/fieldwork housekeeping in coordination with Directors and Office Admin
    • Contribute to SWCA culture of respect and professionalism in support of Sound Science, Creative Solutions
    • Order, maintain, and replace equipment/vehicle/field supplies as needed
  • Assist with pre-field tasks such as downloading new maps onto tablets and printing maps
  • Assist with post-field processing, such as cleaning, syncing, downloading, and returning tablets; cleaning, downloading, and returning Trimble GPS units; and scanning, filing, and sorting paperwork and renaming files

Qualifications

  • High school (or GED equivalent) diploma required; undergraduate college degree in cultural resources (antrhogpology, archaeology, historic preservation), business adminstartion, project management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year project coordination, logistics experience, and/or environmental resources fieldwork experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; preferably version 2010, and other software applications such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, and ability to learn customized, in-house software applications
  • Experience in natural or cultural resources management, the oil and gas industry, federal and tribal governments, and/or environmental compliance a plus
