Archeologist Technician- North Dakota

Aerotek is looking for an Archeologist Tech in North Dakota.

Assist in providing cultural resource management services for KLJ projects in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.

Essential Functions

  • Compliant with KLJ quality standards
  • Complete field-work under supervision of the project manager or supervisor
  • Assist with lab analysis of artifacts
  • Assist with record searches
  • Assist with creating and coordinating reports, documents and other data
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication

Responsibilities

  • May begin to assist with Federal and State Agency coordination
  • Assist with pedestrian inventory, site testing and reports
  • Provide project correspondence, records and field notes
  • Completion of site forms
  • Participate in meetings

Qualifications

  • Either have a four-year degree or be working towards a four-year degree in anthropology, archaeology, history or a related field
  • Must have completed an archaeological Field School
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate motorized vehicles

Preferences:

  • GIS background is desired

  • Knowledge and understanding of processes, procedures, and methods needed to perform duties which is generally acquired and developed through on the job training with little or no formal education, training, or previous work experience.
  • The work consists of tasks that are clear cut, repetitive and directly related. There is little or no choice in deciding what needs to be done.

  • Guidelines are provided for all situations with little or no change.

Relationships

The Archaeologist Technician receives close supervision from the Archaeologist III or above.

The employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Talk or hear and communicate clearly

The employee must:

  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per day
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40 or more hours per week with 95% of the time spent in the field and 5% of the time is spent in the office.
