Philadelphia-Local Archaeological Technicians Needed

Dovetail Cultural Resource Group is seeking Archaeological Technicians local to the Philadelphia area for a data recovery project primarily consisting of feature excavation. Positions would begin Monday, November 16, and work will last at least four weeks (with Thanksgiving off as a paid holiday), though could extend beyond that depending on what is found. No hotel or per diem are available for this project, so applicants must be able to commute. There is potential for additional work on other projects once this one is completed.

Dovetail Cultural Resource Group is a woman-owned cultural resource management firm with offices in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Wilmington, Delaware, performing projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The primary responsibility of the Archaeological Technician is to perform archaeological fieldwork, though responsibilities may also extend to performing background research, working in the laboratory, or performing data entry or similar office tasks. Work is on a project-by-project basis.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field and an accredited archaeological field school are preferred, though a minimum of four years of archaeological field experience within the cultural resource management industry may be substituted for education. Ability to dig, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time, lift at least 40 pounds, and maintain adequate physical fitness to perform field tasks is critical, as is the ability to work outdoors in hot or cold temperatures, in conditions that may include wind, rain, and/or snow.

Please submit a cover letter (to include the date you are available to start), CV, and references to Nicki Sauvageau at Email or call (540-899-9170) with questions.

Dovetail is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
