Archaeological Technician

Terracon Consultants Inc. is a 100% employee-owned firm, providing a full spectrum of geotechnical, materials, facilities, and environmental services with over 5,000 employee-owners from 150 offices.  The Terracon Consultants Inc. Florida Division is looking to fill a couple archaeological field technician positions.

Your role will be to assist the project team. You should be able to work on a daily, weekly, or ten-day session schedule.

Position Expectations

Conduct archaeological fieldwork including monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery. Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of GPS data using Samsung Android and iPhones, metal detecting, and various laboratory tasks. 

Qualifications

• A BA or BS degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field, and at least six (6) months field experience with a range of field methodologies, including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring required
• A university/college accredited field school is preferred
• Experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, methodology and monitoring preferred
• Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required
• Knowledge of mobile field collection applications is a plus
• Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate 4wd vehicles required
• Personal and team safety-minded
