Who You Are

  • You are an effective team member and communicator who works collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • You have education, training and experience in cultural resources management including some or all of the following: cultural resources monitoring, surveying, testing and data recovery, and recordation of archaeological and historic architectural resources.  You hold an advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology or a related science, and have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the Pacific Northwest.   You are able to obtain and hold federal and state archaeological permits in Washington and Oregon.
  • You are known for preparing field reports and other documents that are clear, concise, well-written and supported and for your ability to present information understandably to project team members.
  • You have used your strong writing and editing skills to contribute to a variety of environmental documents including technical memoranda, scientific discipline reports, Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, Executive Order 05-05, and/or SEPA documents.
  • You deliver your project assignments on time and within budget and have assisted with the development and tracking of scopes, schedules and budgets under a Project Manager’s direction.
  • You enjoy field work and are able to walk long distances carrying a backpack, safely operate, load and transport equipment and gear, and cross fences, creeks and other obstacles.  You have the ability to work in a wide variety of field conditions (weather, terrain, etc.) and are able to work some nights and/or weekends.  You are available for occasional remote field work assignments throughout Washington and Oregon.

What You Will Do for ESA

  • Perform cultural resources monitoring, surveys, testing and data recovery, and recordation of archaeological and historic architectural resources, and prepare environmental permit applications and supporting documentation.    
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving to select and apply standard techniques, methods and procedures for a wide range of cultural resources studies. You will collect, interpret and analyze field survey data and may serve as a technical/resource specialist in one or more cultural resource disciplines.
  • Serve as a contributing author of environmental documents potentially including technical memoranda, scientific discipline reports, Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, Executive Order 05-05, and SEPA documents.
  • Complete specific project tasks including the technical or logistical aspects of delivering specific components of a project’s scope, meeting with team members to gauge progress toward schedule, scope and budget, serve as a point of contact for team members with questions and provide status reports to the Project Manager, and, for some projects, serve as Project Manager.
