AHRS is seeking qualified on-call archaeological field
technicians with a minimum of a BA/BS degree in anthropology/archaeology. The
on call archaeological field technician will be part of a growing team of AHRS
cultural resource professionals. Experience in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic is
helpful, as is current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification. Applicants from the
New York / New Jersey/ Pennsylvania area are preferred with the ability to
commute daily to Northern New Jersey and New York City.
On-call field technicians must possess basic archaeological
field and laboratory skills for various field survey, excavation, laboratory and
construction monitoring work, including:
. Completed an archaeological field
school
. At least six months CRM field
experience
· Ability to
identify local cultural materials in the field and laboratory
· Ability to
take comprehensive notes and fill out archaeological forms
· Ability to
read topographic and project maps
· Ability to
perform archaeological surveys and excavations
· Ability to
carry 30 lbs. over rough terrain during the course of an 8-hour work day
. Must be able
to excavate 15 STP’s a day in various soil conditions
· Ability to
work in extreme climatic conditions, cold or hot weather
· Ability to
communicate with archaeological supervisors (field director or crew chief) or
construction contractors during monitoring jobs
· Have a valid
Driver’s License in good standing
. The ability
to get to and from a project site daily with a personal vehicle
