On Call Archaeologist / Field Director

Archaeology & Historic Resource Services, LLC (AHRS) is
currently seeking an on-call Archaeologist/Field Director with a Master's
degree in Anthropology/Archaeology. The Archaeologist/Field Director will be
part of a growing team of AHRS cultural resource professionals. The plan is for
the successful candidate to develop into a full time Field Director/Principal
Investigator. We are seeking someone
looking for a long-term opportunity not just a job. The Archaeologist/Field
Director may be responsible for completing research, fieldwork, laboratory work
and report writing on various types of projects.
Responsibilities:
·
Conducting research and site visits
·
Performing fieldwork and artifact analysis on
Phase I, II, III and monitoring projects
·
Prepare technical reports
Qualifications and Skills:
·
Master's Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a
closely related field
·
At least 3-5 years of field experience
·
At least 2-3 years directing field crews and
monitoring
·
Familiarity with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and NY/NJ/Penn
cultural resource compliance laws
·
Able to maintain effective working relationships
with AHRS staff, client, and regulatory agency staff
·
Excellent analytical skills and attention to
detail
·
Ability to conduct fieldwork, with frequent
overnight stays, and in inclement weather
·
Previous experience working with ArcGIS and
various GPS units preferred
·
Previous experience completing archaeological
projects for various state DOT agencies preferred
·
Field experience in the northeastern United
States is preferred
·
Have a valid Driver’s License and personal
vehicle is a must for traveling to and from project sites
·
Must be able to commute daily to Northern New
Jersey & New York City
