No jobs in the SW?

Softscience

I'm relocating to southern AZ this summer, and have been looking for work in the area, but it looks like few folks are hiring. Is this due to a slow economy or is most of the fieldwork there done during the cooler fall/winter/spring months?

I have heard that you need experience in the SW to get a job there, so like field school or volunteering, I got lucky and had a friend of mine give my resume to a company she used to work for. I worked for like three months last fall-winter. I know a lot of the national parks, forests are hiring on usa jobs, so you could search around there and maybe find something. Calling people up works, I know there are a bunch of companies in Phoenix so you could yellowbook dot com em. Best of luck!

I've tried getting work in New Mexico and am having the same problem. Everything is REAL slow right now.
