Begining the Grad School Search

I was wondering if anyone had any tips in contacting potential grad schools, like when should an undergraduate student start contacting and what are good things to consider about a potential school.
I was also wondering if anyone knows what schools would be worth a look going into Archaeology and GIS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
