University of Oklahoma
2010 Summer Field School in Archaeology

The University of Oklahoma is offering ANT 3930 Field School in Archaeology this summer. The course, which runs from May 24 to June 25, will offer students the chance to earn up 5 hours of course credit. Students will spend five days a week learning archaeological excavation techniques, use of remote sensing equipment, and very basic laboratory skills.

Fieldwork will take place at the Ramos Creek site, a late prehistoric Caddo site (ca. AD 1100-1500) located along the Mountain Fork River in the Ouachita Mountains of southeast Oklahoma. The field excavations are part of a larger project to understand the political relationship between outlying mountain sites and mound centers downstream.

The course is open to all students currently enrolled in an accredited university. For more information and an application, please visit: http://faculty-staff.ou.edu/R/Amanda.L.Regnier-1/
