Any recommendations on favorite books in geology, geomorphology, geoarchaeology, or related areas for the archaeologist? How about books in these subjects for students? It might be helpful to compile a list here...

Here are just a couple that happen to be sitting beside me:
Handbook of Geophysics and Archaeology by Alan Witten. Equinox Publishing, London. 2006
Remote Sensing in Archaeology: An Explicitly North American Perspective
edited by Jay K. Johnson. The University of Alabama Press, Tuscaloosa. 2006.
Practical and Theoretical Geoarchaeology
by Paul Goldberg and Richard I. Macphail. Blackwell, Oxford, UK. 2006.
Revealing the Buried Past: Geophysics for Archaeologists by Chris Gaffney and John Gater. Tempus Publishing, Stroud. 2003.
I've more if anyone is interested...

Two books I use quite often and would recommend are:
The Nature and Properties of Soils by Nyle C. Brady and Ray R. Weil, published by Prentice Hall. (this is kind of a pricey book, but is in its 13th or 14th edition so you can pick up older (used) editions for cheaper and they are still very useful for what we do)
Principles of Geoarchaeology: A North American Perspective by Michael R. Waters, published by University of Arizona Press.
Some others I have around the office and use on occasion:
Soils in Archaeology: Landscape Evolution and Human Occupation edited by Vance T. Holliday, Smithsonian Institution Press.
Soil Science Simplified by Helmut Kohnke and D.P. Franzmeier, Waveland Press.
Factors of Soil Formation: A System of Quantitative Pedology by Hans Jenny, Dover Publications, Inc.
Alluvial Geoarchaeology: Floodplain archaeology and environmental change by A.G. Brown, Cambridge University Press.
