THE ETRUSCANS IN MARSILIANA (TUSCANY, ITALY)
INTERNATIONAL INTRODUCTORY FIELDSCHOOL IN ARCHAEOLOGY

The Association Etruria Nova, under the technical direction of the University of Siena and in collaboration with the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage in Tuscany and the Township of Manciano, offers an International Introduc-tory Fieldschool in Archaeology. This initiative is sponsored by the Province of Grosseto and is supported by the Marsiliana Estate of Prince Corsini. Comprising modules of one or two weeks the school offers participants experi-ence of methods of archaeological research, taught by professional archaeologists, with lectures, seminars, survey and excavation sessions on the sites of the area and visits to the principal Etruscan archaeological sites of the Grosseto and Viterbo areas. The course is open to anyone, with an interest in archaeology or the interpretation and conservation of cultural heritage, in accordance with the statutes of the Association Etruria Nova.

Course fees:
Module 1* (base) - 290 Euro
Module 2* (advanced) - 290 Euro
Module 1 + Module 2* - 570 Euro

* Applications will be accepted until 15 May 2010. A minimum of 18 participants be needed for each module to run.

Included in course fees:
Accommodation courtesy of “La Speranza” holiday farm house in Marsiliana d’Albegna (www.agriturismolasperanza.it), in apart-ments with 4 or 5 beds, kitchen and bathroom with shower, also bed linen and towels. Single occupancy may be possible, on pay-ment of a surcharge, dependent on availability. Swimming pool for use of participants. Provision for breakfasts and packed lunches to be made in their apartments by participants, comprising fresh and tinned foods. Evening meals in a local restaurant, including drinks. Transfer by car/minibus between the accommodation and Albinia (Orbetello) railway station, transport to the excavation sites and on excursions. Theoretical and practical tuition, including handouts, in English and Italian. Insurance cover for the duration of the course, included in sub-scription to the Etruria Nova Association. Course certificate on successful completion.

NOT included:
Tickets for entrance to museums and archaeological sites on ex-cursions. Extra services in the holidays farm (tennis, table football, sauna, laundry and air conditioning in the apartments). Any further services not specifically included above.
