Dig scene in Colorado
notquitebacon
I'm planning on moving out to Boulder sometime in August and was wondering what the archaeology/anthropology scene is out there (just in general).
More specifically, I focus on physical anthropology/human osteology, so anything in that realm would be great information to have.

I moved to Boulder about a year ago, and I'm only just starting to get involved with the archaeology scene here. There really isn't that much locally in Boulder, but there should be plenty of opportunities in the surrounding region.
If you're a student, I would definitely check with the University of Colorado, Boulder (a notorious party school, but they have a great anthro program) to see if you can volunteer with some field schools. I would also check Colorado State University in Fort Collins and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Also check out the Paleo Cultural Research Group located in Broomfield about 15 minutes away from Boulder. http://www.paleocultural.org/index.html
In terms of CRM, SWCA has an office in Denver, and Western Cultural Resource Management has an office in Boulder. Also, the Boulder Ranger District with the Forest Service has a heritage team (which I will be joining in May!).
I would also recommend checking the Indian Peaks Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society. They have great volunteer opportunities.
