INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an intern for the [Insert time].  The INL Cultural Resource Management (CRM) Program is responsible for compliance with all cultural resource laws and regulations on the Idaho National Laboratory. Several archaeological field survey projects and one excavation project are planned for summer 2010. Under the guidance of a mentor(s), the selected student would track the sites and artifacts found during these projects and analyze them within existing research designs and/or historical contexts. They will present the findings at a poster session to be held near the end of the internship.

This internship is an educational enhancement opportunity and is a full time, paid position.
   
    Qualifications
    Required Qualifications:
Full time student status
-Ability to pass background check
-U.S. citizen
-GPA 3.0 or greater

Preferred Qualifications:
-Completion of sophomore year
-Previous INL internship, preferably with CRM Program
-Current INL Site Access Training
-Current Radiological Training
-Course work or experience with unexploded ordnance recognition
-Experience with field archeological surveys
-Experience with site recordation
-Must be able to work in extreme outdoor conditions including uneven surfaces, heights, extreme heat, and sun (UV) exposure
- Must be able to hike in moderate terrain
-Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for long durations
- Works well in team environment under direct supervision
- GPS experience

   
    Environmental, Safety & Health
    Must be familiar with, and comply with all relevant health and safety requirements.  Must be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, methods for reporting/resolving work practices or conditions to available cognizant professionals.
