Position: The internship is a ten-week summer commitment, based in our Denver office. The intern will directly assist the Program Coordinator and other staff in advocating for and providing technical preservation assistance to the listed endangered sites. The position is dynamic due to the threatened status of each of the sites, so candidates should be adaptable and able to help prioritize preservation needs. Some travel with overnight stays will be required.
Possible tasks include:
• Public outreach to individuals and communities about the Most Endangered Places Program and soliciting nominations for the 2011 List.
• Updating site reports and completing needs assessments for previously listed sites.
• Development of a digital endangered sites database, using existing project files.
• Compile and analyze media reports related to the Endangered Places Program.
• Development and implementation of a social media outreach campaign for the Endangered Places Program and/or listed sites.
Qualifications: Seeking an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a historic preservation, architectural history, architecture, or related program. Recent graduates will also be considered. Must have very strong written and verbal communication skills, be a self-starter, and have a well-reasoned, diplomatic approach to sometimes challenging preservation issues. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and able to take, edit, and organize high quality digital photographs. The position will likely require making public presentations, so candidates should have excellent presentation skills, including PowerPoint proficiency.
Benefits: Stipend of $5000 and academic credit may be available.
