Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Archaeologist Intern is to assist field crew members for cultural resources inventories, archaeological testing projects, and treatment projects as needed. Assignments may include fieldwork in mountain and plains states.
Duties include: working with field crews and office assistants; conducting files searches, literature reviews, and other research; performing fieldwork; documenting and evaluating cultural resources in the field; preparing site forms and other documentation; assisting with report preparation; and other duties as needed and as assigned by the Team or Department leaders.
This intern will be part of the Cultural Resources Team in the Environmental Department. The team consists of nine members and is responsible for providing cultural resources support potentially throughout the Great Plains and Mountains regions. This position reports to the Cultural Resources Team leader, but will also be responsive to directives from various project managers and the senior staff of the Cultural Resources Team.
The individual will interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within URS. Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.

Education: Coursework in Anthropology or Archeology pursuing a BS/BA or MS/MA. If pursuing a BS/BA must have junior or senior status.
Software: Must be able to write reports using Microsoft Word and prepare simple spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel.
Position requires effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work flexible hours, Monday through Friday. May be asked to travel and work occasional weekends.
No relocation or housing allowance provided.
