Outline of an Ancient City in Laos?

What do you think those lines are?
I found them with google earth.
They looks like the outline of an ancient city. There does not seem to be any placemark or information about it.
It is located near the newly built canal of the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project in a remote part of Laos.

The lines appear to be very clear of plant growth and erosion. This makes me think they are not old. Could they be the paths or dirt ways of a temporary mineral exploration site?

some people suggested it's a recent (failed) housing development.

If you "zero in" on Nakai using the same google earth map, you will notice there are identical paths in several areas surrounding the town. Perhaps they are dikes or borders of fields.
Not that far from Nakai, but you have to wonder why they would farm there if someone didn't live close by.

no, those are different.
what you see around Nakai are borders between cultivated fields. this is very different from the geometrical pattern of dirt roads in a forest that are at the location i pointed, just NE of the intersection of roads 12 and 1E.

Whatever it's from, it does not appear to be very old. Again, lack of weathering and what appears to be some sort of limestone topping or exposed bed that makes the outlines appear white. The current paths from existing houses look far more ancient. The outlines do not appear to be like any wall foundations lines that I have seen.
